- Sri Raghavendra Swamy (1595 - 1671) was born as Sri Venkata Natha near present-day Chidambaram in Tamil Nadu. He served as a pontiff at the Kumbakonam Matha from 1624 – 1671.
- Raghavendra Swamy is one saint-God who is associated with multiple forms of life-giving benevolence.
- He advocated Vaishnavism (worship of Lord Vishnu as the supreme God) and the Davita philosophy advocated by Madhavacharya. He is considered by his devotees to be a reincarnation of Prahlada, the devotee who was saved by Lord Vishnu in his avtar as Narasimha.
